The colorful flower fields resemble overseas landscapes—Taibao Flower Sea Festival becomes a new hotspot for flower appreciation

The Chiayi Taibao Flower Sea Festival is known as the “Taiwan version of Provence” and Hokkaido’s colorful flower fields, and it grandly kicked off just before the Lunar New Year. This year’s flower sea festival not only continues the colorful flower fields and straw installation art, but also specially adopts the Year of the Dog theme “Have a Dog, GO Happiness”, planning numerous adorable installation artworks paired with vibrant flower carpets, attracting large crowds of flower-viewing tourists every year.

The colorful flower sea is located in a 25-hectare organic rice zone next to the Taiwan 18th Route High-Speed Rail Boulevard, featuring plants such as cosmos, rapeseed, zinnia, and sunflowers. It is divided into three flower sea areas: an arc-shaped rainbow, a multicolored stripe pattern, and a mixed flower sea. Layer upon layer of vivid and colorful scenery creates a magnificent visual effect.

Moreover, Taibao City is also the venue for the Taiwan Lantern Festival, which starts lighting up on February 16 (Lunar New Year's Day) and runs for 24 days. Flower-appreciating visitors can also enjoy the lanterns nearby, playing from daytime through the night. During the flower sea festival period, shuttle buses are arranged between Chiayi High-Speed Rail Station and the flower sea festival site to transport visitors.

The flower sea festival kicks off on February 10, and the flowering period will continue until the 25th. In addition to the brilliant flower seas and straw installation art, there are also activities such as giant claw machines, flower sea DIY, flower sea art, and flower sea markets. Coupled with the Taiwan Lantern Festival in Chiayi, visitors might want to plan a trip to Chiayi during the Lunar New Year.
