Hidden within Park Road Lane 321 are stories of time gone by. This is a complex of former official residences of the Imperial Japanese Army’s Second Infantry Regiment, designated as a municipal historical site. Many notable figures from Tainan, such as teacher Kuo Kuo-chuan and even director Ang Lee, once lived nearby. These old houses are a shared historical treasure cherished by Tainan citizens through the years.

Step into the 321 Lane Art Village, where the playful imagery of the street signs adds charm. Push open the small red door of the old military dependents’ village, and the old trees framing the aged houses make them all the more charming.The 321 Art Village integrates art, culture, and ecology within the park, revitalizing the area into an arts village. Located in a quiet alleyway near the train station and transportation hub, it is a “hidden urban oasis.” Recently, after being taken over by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, it has been planned as a pilot specialty art community. Further efforts continue to secure restoration funding to transform it into the most distinctive heritage art village in the ancient cultural capital.
