Qigu Visitor Center

Constructed with a budget of NT$100 million, the Tainan Qigu Visitor Center is located between the Qigu Salt Mountain and the Taiwan Salt Museum, covering an area of over 5,000 ping. To minimize its visual impact on the environment, the visitor center is designed around the themes of seawalls and salt dikes. The building incorporates the concept of the salt mountain eroding and collapsing under rain, with varying slopes and cliffs, while integrating local Tainan elements. This makes the visitor center more than just a building—it feels like a living, breathing salt mountain.

However, as some construction work still needs to be completed, the center is currently not open to visitors to avoid safety risks. You can add the Qigu Visitor Center to your must-visit list for now and plan your pilgrimage once it reopens！

North Gate Visitor Center

The North Gate Visitor Center was renovated from a warehouse within the former salt washing factory complex. Its exterior retains the original sloped roof design of the factory. Nearby walls are painted with colorful artworks of various international themes, with each wall showcasing a different subject. The outer wall of the visitor center features a zodiac mural. In addition to the Crystal Chapel nearby, there are also many romantic art installations, making it no surprise that it attracts many brides-to-be for wedding photography！

Taijiang Academy

Located in Annan District, Tainan City, Taijiang Academy serves as the administrative center and visitor center for Taijiang National Park. Designed by architect Kuo Ying-chao, it preserves the characteristics of the original coastal wetlands and adopts a “stilt house” form using a special material called “oyster shell bricks.” The building is constructed over fish ponds, turning it into an alternative habitat for waterfowl and creating a scene of “misty waters and lush vegetation.”

Taijiang Academy was officially opened on January 13, 2016, but only the administrative center is currently accessible to the public. The visitor center is expected to be completed and open by the end of 2017.

The Nanzao Fishing Port Visitor Service Center stands out with its blue-and-white Mediterranean-style architecture, becoming a popular photo spot. Along the 17-kilometer coastline, whether you’re taking a stroll or cycling, you’ll find yourself stopping to take beautiful photos by the “Bell of Happiness” and the “Windmill Clock Tower.”

Wushih Port Visitor Center

The Wushih Port Visitor Service Center features a unique design, with its exterior resembling a large sailboat moored by the harbor. Planned and designed by architect Su Yu-che, it adopts the concept of a “transparent box” to create a visual connection between the river and the sea, highlighting Wushih Port’s distinctive geographical location at the intersection of an ancient waterway and a modern harbor.

Inside the transparent box, semi-transparent colored images float, showcasing moments of Wushih Port and Guishan Island. When looking through the glass, the transparent imagery overlaps with the horizontal view, extending infinitely to create a quite special visual effect. Standing at the Wushih Port Visitor Center, you can enjoy views of the Lan Yang Museum, and it’s also a great spot for landscape photography. On the other side, you’ll find the charming atmosphere of a small fishing harbor.
