Ocean Park’s “Haunt Up Fear All-Day Festival” Introduces a Revolutionary Day-and-Night Concept Last year’s debut was hugely popular, and this year the park is breaking new ground again with the theme “Haunt Up Fear Ghost World Cinema,” featuring an impressive lineup of “7 haunted houses and 9 experiences,” delivering extreme scares and delightful surprises in an Asian Halloween extravaganza. Enjoy unlimited fun all day long with just one admission ticket. The ultimate R-rated haunted house will make its first appearance, where participants must complete a series of tasks in a locked room, challenging their sensory limits and confronting deep-seated fears. The production team behind the movie “Rigor Mortis” joins in with thrilling contributions, recreating the eerie old house scenes and zombie-making process from the film. Also featured is Asia’s first Hello Kitty-themed Haunt Up Fear party, where you can hop aboard time machines and anywhere doors to embark on a magical adventure.

This year, Ocean Park innovatively designs “Day-and-Night Haunted House Transformations.” Two haunted houses offer a surprise-filled atmosphere for families during the day, then transform into highly terrifying zones after 5 p.m. Daredevils can even get up close and personal with their own frightened expressions in the world’s first haunted house equipped with rental selfie cameras, capturing and taking home their scary moments. Additionally, there are several special Haunt Up Fear-themed performances to keep the whole family entertained throughout the park.

First-Ever Appointment-Only R-Rated Haunted House
Beyond the new concept, this year’s Haunt Up Fear also introduces its first-ever R-rated haunted house: Modern Education Presents: [H14]. Participants must be at least 16 years old and pre-register online. The brave can experience it alone or in groups of up to six. Unlike traditional haunted houses that rely on ghostly scares, [H14] takes the scare experience to a deeper level, challenging visitors’ sensory limits and inner fears. Participants must complete a series of tasks in a locked room, overcoming their deepest, most hidden anxieties. Each group’s experience is tailor-made—they fill out personal information before entering, and the Haunt Up Fear team adjusts the journey and scares based on their profiles and reactions during the experience.

Playing with Hong Kong Elements to Create Relatable Terror
As a flagship theme park in Hong Kong, Ocean Park incorporates plenty of local elements into its annual Haunt Up Fear event, using popular topics in Hong Kong to create a more resonant experience for visitors. This year, the park collaborates with emerging director Mak Jun-lung to recreate the terrifying scenes from the Hong Kong Film Award-winning movie “Rigor Mortis.” Ms. Au Yeung Yee-wa, the park’s Performing Arts Program Director, said: “The film pays homage to 1980s zombie movies and is set in public housing—two elements that are shared memories for Hong Kong people. Audiences already feel a strong connection when watching the film in theaters, let alone being immersed in it. By collaborating with the behind-the-scenes team of ‘Rigor Mortis’ to create Yahoo Hong Kong Presents: [Rigor Mortis LIVE], we aim to deliver a chillingly realistic horror experience.”

Cartoon Fantasy Space Attracts Anime Fans
Beyond the scares, the park also caters to families with Asia’s first Hello Kitty-themed “Hello Kitty Haunt Up Fear Party.” Ms. Au Yeung Yee-wa said: “Hello Kitty is loved by both adults and children, just like Ocean Park—it has grown up with everyone since childhood. This time, we’ve transformed Whiskers Harbour into a Hello Kitty-themed space, and even dressed Hello Kitty in her first-ever Haunt Up Fear outfit in Asia, creating an adorable Halloween world with characters like Doraemon and others. The ‘Hello Kitty Magic Tool House’ will feature familiar elements like time machines and anywhere doors, making you feel like you’re in a dreamlike space. You can take photos in every corner of the Haunt Up Fear party filled with Hello Kitty’s footprints, and Hello Kitty and other characters may even appear for photos. Additionally, we’ve launched a variety of Hello Kitty food and merchandise, sure to attract many Hello Kitty fans.”
