In a survey conducted in Australia targeting local Chinese residents, about 50% of Chinese Australians plan to vacation in Queensland over the next two years, demonstrating the unique tourism appeal of Queensland among the Chinese community. The Australian Tourism Research Authority also pointed out that Chinese people show the highest interest in traveling to Queensland within the first two to three years of immigrating to Australia. However, apart from the Great Barrier Reef and the Gold Coast, their knowledge of other tourist destinations in Queensland is quite limited, indicating great potential for promoting other travel experiences in the state. In light of this, Tourism and Events Queensland has taken the initiative to attract more Chinese visitors for holidays and travel.

A Beautiful Encounter with Sea Turtles
Queensland’s annual grand sea turtle viewing season is set to unfold once again. From November each year to March of the following year, green sea turtles, loggerhead sea turtles, leatherback sea turtles, and flatback sea turtles nest along Queensland’s coastline, and they can be spotted in many areas of the state. Lady Elliot Island at the southernmost tip of the Great Barrier Reef and Mon Repos in Bundaberg are among the best places in Australia to observe sea turtle habitats. Visitors can witness this moving natural ecological spectacle firsthand within national park protected areas.

The Great Barrier Reef Marathon
The 2014 Great Barrier Reef Marathon will kick off on November 9 in Port Douglas.
