So healing！A dreamy scenic café in Nanzhuang, Miaoli — endless lush mountains stretch as far as the eye can see

Nanzhuang in Miaoli isn’t just about exploring the old street; hidden in the mountains is the scenically spectacular “Shanxing Rose” café, where endless mountain vistas unfold under a backdrop of blue skies and white clouds, resembling a fairyland. Originally created as a retirement retreat by a couple, word of mouth spread and many fell in love with the place, prompting them to open up this beautiful view to everyone.

To allow guests to enjoy the natural serenity of Nanzhuang, Shanxing Rose officially opened as a café in 2000, and later added homestay accommodations so travelers could stay longer amidst the mountains, quietly observing the changing landscape and temporarily escaping worldly worries.

Shanxing Rose is located near the old street of Nanzhuang, Miaoli, about a 10-minute drive away. The outdoor corridor is filled with plants and trees, bursting with greenery, and the café is embraced by flowers and mountains, standing as a beautiful, secluded haven — at first glance, it really does give off Jiufen vibes.

Shanxing Rose’s restaurant has two floors, with indoor, outdoor, semi-outdoor, and terrace areas on both the first and second levels. No matter where you sit, after a hearty meal, most people head to the outdoor terrace on the second floor to take in the rolling emerald-green mountains. Even when the weather is poor and it’s raining, people still stay put with umbrellas to admire the mountain scenery in the rain — a uniquely charming experience.

The homestay section is a white building, decorated with natural wood materials and handmade furnishings, giving each room a rustic and cozy vibe. Each room’s outdoor balcony features a lounging daybed for enjoying the view — lie back, and right in front of you is the nearby Bijia Mountain, offering a truly captivating scene. Room types include doubles and quadruples, starting from NT$3,300 per night.

The meals at Shanxing Rose aren’t like those at typical scenic restaurants, where the focus is mostly on the view and the food takes a back seat. Instead, the dishes here are quite good and well-recommended by netizens. The menu includes tea, coffee, fruit teas, light snacks, as well as filling Western and Taiwanese dishes, and even one vegetarian option to accommodate plant-based diners.
