Tamsui’s Golden Waterfront is full of art in December. Students from Tamkang High School’s Art Class have painted a 3D mural titled “Rhapsody of Tamsui” around the statue of George Leslie Mackay. Visitors to Tamsui’s Golden Waterfront can not only enjoy the beautiful scenery but also appreciate the students’ artworks and their passion for art.

Tamsui Old Street boasts a history of over a hundred years, with old-fashioned brick shops lining the streets. Strolling along the old street, visitors can admire the blend of old and new, and head to the Tamsui Riverbank to watch the sunset over the sparkling river, where fishing boats and ferries shuttle between Tamsui and Bali on the opposite shore—a rich tapestry of cultural scenery.

The 3D mural “Rhapsody of Tamsui,” painted by Tamkang High School Art Class students around the Mackay statue, depicts a waterfall bursting from cracked layers of earth and features a “sampan boat,” representing a local Tamsui icon, recreating the lives of early settlers through art. Ten art class students worked daily from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM starting December 4, taking turns to paint, and are expected to complete the artwork in 13 days by December 16.
