Unlimited side dishes, drinks, and steamed rice included!! Enjoy authentic Korean-style tofu pot in Taoyuan

Hey Up, An Niu XD, the Korea lover is back again!! This time, I’m introducing another Korean restaurant in Taoyuan. Why do I keep coming to Taoyuan for Korean food? Well, it’s because my friends there know I love it and always kindly help me find good Korean restaurants. But the problem is, there are just too many Korean restaurants in Taoyuan, so I never run out of new places to try XD. This time, I’m featuring a spot that many locals in Taoyuan recommend. With big portions, fair pricing, and unlimited refills on sides, drinks, and rice, it’s a must-visit. And with a place that dares to claim it serves "authentic" Korean tofu pot—one of my personal favorites—how could I not give it a try?!

Where do they get the confidence to claim “Kim Sam Soon Authentic Korean Tofu Pot” on their signboard!! For those who don’t know, have you seen the Korean drama *My Name is Kim Sam Soon*? That’s the drama that got me hooked on Korean dramas forever...

The restaurant is quite spacious. I came on a weekday afternoon to avoid the crowd, and sure enough, there weren’t many people.

Here’s a look at the menu. The highlight is that you can choose your spice level here.

They offer unlimited cola, sodas, and even plain water.

And you can mix and match your drinks too.

The free unlimited side dishes are super generous. Most restaurants give you small dishes with barely anything in them, and asking for more refills gets annoying. But here, they serve the sides in proper bowls—generously filled—and you just ask for more bowls when you finish.

There are three types of side dishes, and I heard they change daily. First up: kimchi—the essential Korean side dish that I really like. It’s tangy, sweet, crispy, and very authentically Korean. Second: ‘Japchae’—which is actually Korean stir-fried glass noodles. It’s a common Korean home-cooked dish, and I personally love it. Third: cold bean sprouts salad—another common Korean side, very crunchy and refreshing.

Seafood Spicy Ramen — NT$170

You might say, “It’s just ramen for $170!” But this is seafood spicy ramen, and it comes with lots of ingredients and in a pretty big bowl too.

Seafood Tofu Pot — NT$220

You absolutely have to try the Korean tofu pot here, right?! The price is pretty reasonable and not expensive at all. Plus, with unlimited sides, drinks, and rice, all in large portions, I’d say it’s pretty good value.

The hot Korean tofu pot arrives looking fiery red—just the sight of it totally excites my taste buds!!

Once stirred, you’ll see plenty of silky tofu and seafood inside. The spicy miso adds a rich flavor that goes perfectly with the rice—it’s a very authentic-tasting Korean tofu stew. At least by Taiwan standards, it’s very close to the real Korean flavor.

Make sure to pour in the steamed rice and mix it all together!!

After mixing, even the rice turns bright red, soaking up all the spicy sauce. It’s hot, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Ugh, why am I writing this article in the middle of the night? Now I’m making myself hungry again XDD

Spicy Stir-Fried Rice Cakes — NT$170

I went with medium spice for all my dishes this time, but next time I want to try the extra spicy level!!!! The spicy rice cakes had a decent level of spice, but I felt they were missing that sweet-spicy depth typical of Korean flavors—it was just okay. I heard their bibimbap is also great—I’ll save some room for that next time!!
