Yuen Long Tai Tong has long been a popular destination for hiking and outdoor activities among locals. Every year around November and December, as temperatures drop sharply, the sweetgum trees along the mountain trails gradually change color, making it a hot weekend getaway. The Tai Tong Country Park Tai Tong Hill Road is lined with sweetgum trees, especially near the Sweetgum Tree Pavilion, where they are most densely concentrated. The cold winter temperatures and shorter daylight hours cause the leaves to lose chlorophyll, turning them red and yellow, creating a romantic landscape.
