To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the operation of Taiping Mountain and in conjunction with the “Taiping Mountain ‘Forest in Motion for a Century’” series of events,January 1, 2015 (Thursday), at exactly 3:00 AM, the Taiping Mountain National Forest Recreation Area opened early to allow the public to welcome the first light of the new year.

Taiping Mountain, located at mid-to-high altitude, has always been an excellent spot for sunrise viewing. Surrounded by mountains and covered in dense forests and lush greenery, as the morning sun rises, it shines upon the layers of sea of clouds, creating a fairyland-like scene. With both the sunrise and sea of clouds appearing simultaneously, the colorful and magnificent view is truly breathtaking. To welcome the arrival of the new year,on January 1, 2015, anyone who purchases a ticket and enters the park before 6:30 AM will, based on the number of people indicated on the receipt, receive one free Taiping Mountain postcard per person as a limited-time, limited-edition commemorative souvenir.

The Taiping Mountain Forest Recreation Park also recommends several locations for welcoming the first light, including the Taiping Villa Observation Deck, the Cui Feng Scenic Road 14k Observation Deck, the Cui Feng Lake Mountain-Looping Trail (East Entrance) Observation Deck, and the Wang Yang Mountain Trail Observation Deck. If weather conditions are favorable, watching the sunrise from Wang Yang Mountain also offers views of the Lanyang Plain and Turtle Island in the Pacific Ocean.

On New Year’s Day, the expected sunrise time is between 6:30 AM and 6:50 AM.The Forestry Bureau’s Luodong Forest District Office sincerely invites you to come to Taiping Mountain to welcome the first light of the new year 2015.
