Every year during the New Year’s holiday, the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area attracts a large number of visitors who come up the mountain to witness the first rays of dawn. Due to limited parking space within the area, to reduce parking time for visitors and avoid traffic congestion,visitors can park their vehicles in the temporarily designated roadside parking spaces along Highway 18 (Alishan Highway) between kilometers 89 and 95 in an orderly manner, or take public transportation to enter the park.
