With the arrival of cold fronts, the entire country is experiencing damp and chilly weather—it’s the perfect season for hot spring baths and plum blossom viewing! Kaohsiung’s Liugui District, home to the long-renowned BaoLai and Boula Hot Springs, is further graced each winter by vast fields of blooming plum blossoms, making it an ideal winter retreat destination in southern Taiwan.

In the depths of winter, plum blossoms burst forth vigorously across all major producing areas in Taiwan. Liugui boasts vast plum blossom forests covering 400 hectares,with blooms gradually competing to open from New Year’s Day, reaching their peak from the 10th to the 15th,creating the most beautiful floral spectacle in southern Taiwan. Especially noteworthy is the sea of plum blossoms in Liugui’s Zhulin area, located in the professional plum-growing zone on the western slopes of Meilong Mountain in BaoLai. This area, with an average elevation of 440m to 1,320m, enjoys a climate ideal for growing plum trees, making it a true plum cultivation hub. Each year after New Year’s Day, the area is blanketed in snow-like white blooms, an awe-inspiring sight as plum trees cover the hills like snow.
