A country’s safety is one of the most important concerns for its people and also a key factor to consider when traveling abroad. Recently, an online poll revealed the “2014–2015 Top 10 Safest Countries in the World” ranking. Based on the Global Peace Index (GPI) published by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), and taking into account various factors such as crime rates, natural disasters, terrorism, and economic crises, the list of global peace rankings was released—with Taiwan ranked second, just behind Iceland.

The survey reported that Taiwan boasts extremely low rates of theft, crime, and violence, along with its uniquely kind and friendly people who are willing to lend a helping hand. Tourists visiting Taiwan rarely encounter any violent incidents. Additionally, it was mentioned that Taiwan is a wonderful place with numerous beautiful attractions, earning its second-place ranking due to its healthcare, economic freedom, education, and human development. Iceland, on the other hand, claimed the top spot globally for its low crime rate and high level of safety.
