A recent documentary discussing China’s smog problem, “Under the Dome,” sparked widespread discussion and attention, prompting more people to reflect on environmental protection and human health. Among the issues raised, higher concentrations of “PM2.5” particulate matter significantly increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases. According to data from the Environmental Protection Administration, the PM2.5 concentration in the mountainous areas of Taipei City is only 40% of the global environmental standard. Why not take a holiday and explore the hiking trails of “Taipei’s Little Stream Head” to escape PM2.5 and enjoy a healthy mountain adventure?

In recent years, the Department of Urban Development has connected the “BiXi Trail,” “DaTou Forest Trail,” and “DaTou Nature Trail” into a roughly 3-kilometer circular trail called the “Little Stream Head Loop Trail.” This interconnected path offers abundant natural scenery, including scenic viewpoints such as the “Riding the Wind Fortress Viewpoint,” “Wind Rush Forest Viewpoint,” “Huapeng Viewing Pavilion,” and “Giant Tree Viewing Platform.” There are also several playful poker-themed platforms named “Ace,” “King,” “Queen,” “Jack,” “Spade,” “Heart,” “Diamond,” and “Club.” The area boasts diverse natural ecology, where you can often spot squirrels and Taiwan blue magpies hopping around the platforms—scenes that are both delightful and adorable.
