The creation of the Taichung Anime Mural Alley began as a spontaneous idea when the three Chen siblings were painting their family home. They decided to paint their favorite anime, One Piece, on the wall — and the surprisingly lifelike artwork quickly became an online sensation. Within months, at the request of neighbors, they added more beloved characters such as Dragon Ball, Urawa no Usagi-chan, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Naruto to the alley. Visiting the alley feels like stepping into the pages of a comic book and encountering these cartoon characters in real life. The collection of murals continues to grow, but as the area expands beyond the original abandoned alley into residential neighborhoods, the Chen siblings plan to add a new piece reminding visitors to keep their voices down and respect the peace of nearby residents.
