Some countries may not show as much respect toward women, and foreign media have specifically ranked the top 10 most dangerous countries for female travelers. The assessment was primarily based on incidents of (sexual) violence against women in each country. The results, in order, are India, Brazil, Turkey, Thailand, Egypt, Colombia, South Africa, Morocco, Mexico, and Kenya. Female travelers planning to visit these places should definitely take extra precautions.

● India

News of sexual assaults against women in India occurs incessantly. Statistical research indicates that a sexual assault takes place in India every 20 minutes, making it one of the most dangerous countries for many female tourists. Although the Indian government is actively trying to bring perpetrators to justice, the number of sexual assault cases has still been increasing by 7.1% annually since 2010.

Violence against women in Thailand is showing signs of worsening. The influx of large numbers of tourists has also contributed to security problems. In 2013, a 20-year-old Scottish female student was gang-raped, but instead of helping her, Thai police threatened to arrest her, and no witnesses came forward in her support.
