No need to go to Japan to buy it—Tokyo’s popular Jiyugaoka dessert shop “Kurofune” opens in Taiwan on March 7

Japanese desserts are making their way to Taiwan one after another. Kurofune, from Tokyo’s premier dessert district Jiyugaoka, has been recommended as an elegant dessert shop not to be missed. Its first store in Taiwan is scheduled to open on March 7 at B2F of SOGO Zhongxiao Branch, offering bestsellers such as Castella cake, dorayaki, Castella crisps, and wavy waffles.

During the opening promotion, Kurofune is launching an exclusive “Kurofune Banquet Gift Box.” Customers can enjoy one plain slice of Castella cake, one matcha-flavored slice of Castella cake, one plain dorayaki, and one piece of chocolate rice crisp cookies at a special price of NT$400. Limited quantities are available and will be sold while supplies last.

Kurofune is a new-style dessert brand established in 2006 by a long-established Castella cake shop that originated in Nagasaki in 1919. Located in Tokyo’s Jiyugaoka, the brand insists on using only carefully selected Japanese ingredients, including stress-free eggs from contracted farms in Kagawa and Iwate Prefectures, uniformly sized domestic wheat flour, as well as beet sugar and refined white sugar from Hokkaido.
