Every spring-to-summer transition marks the vibrant start of Taiwan’s firefly season. Alishan not only offers stunning spring and summer fireflies for visitors to enjoy but also boasts abundant firefly-viewing resources year-round. The Alishan National Scenic Area Administration continues to collaborate with the Alishan Forest Railway to launch all-year-round package tours, guiding visitors through the Alishan National Scenic Area. Additionally, two ecological experience camps are held each spring–summer and autumn–winter for middle and high school students respectively, aiming to instill environmental awareness and firefly conservation from a young age. Students nationwide interested in firefly ecology and conservation are welcome to sign up enthusiastically.

Alisha’s “Four-Season Firefly Viewing Events” are highly popular among both domestic and international tourists, thanks to the area’s uniquely rich natural ecosystem that offers shimmering firefly displays all year round. On April 11 at Yuantan Ecological Park and April 18 at Guanghuading Benzi Recreation Area, opening events for firefly viewing will be held. In addition to exciting performances and complimentary local cuisine, there will also be fun DIY painting activities. On the afternoon of both event days, an “Ecological Experience Camp for Fireflies” will be organized for middle and high school students across the country. All participating visitors will have the chance to receive a “Firefly Sprite” keychain, and those who check in on-site will get a Q-version conservation animal transfer sticker—limited quantities available while supplies last. Through engaging lectures, students will learn about the different characteristics of spring–summer and autumn–winter fireflies and how to conserve them.

This year, the Alishan Firefly Season has once again partnered with domestic travel agencies to launch the “Alishan Firefly 2-Day Tour Package.” The spring–summer sessions will depart on 4/22, 4/29, and 5/27, with three autumn–winter firefly tour packages tentatively scheduled to begin in December. The itinerary includes popular activities such as firefly viewing, trail hiking, and forest railway rides, and also partners with local accommodations to take visitors to hidden gems in areas like Rueili and Fenchihu.
