Situated in Hualien, the Danongdafu Plain Forest Park sees a riot of blooms from February to March each year, with expansive, vibrant fields of flowers creating a breathtaking view. This year, numerous wood-chip trails and simple bamboo bridges have been newly installed to make sightseeing more convenient. Within the park, hundreds of thousands of flowers burst into bloom, including crabapple, cosmos, dianthus, and salvia. From just before Lunar New Year’s Eve to the Lantern Festival, fields of rapeseed flowers, sunflowers, and cosmos will also be in full glory.

The park features a cycling path reminiscent of the Totoro tunnel, as well as a Spring Festival-exclusive, sprawling 11-hectare floral landscape. With mostly flat terrain and ample parking, it’s an ideal spot for a springtime flower excursion. Additionally, the Forest Market remains open throughout the Spring Festival, allowing visitors to enjoy local delicacies while admiring the blossoms and shop for unique regional souvenirs.

Danongdafu is Taiwan’s first plain forest park, covering 1,250 hectares—equivalent to 48 Da’an Forest Parks. Nestled between the Central Mountain Range and the Coastal Mountain Range, it shines like an emerald gem in the valley. The park has a 13-kilometer cycling trail lined with diverse and rich forest scenery, including Taiwanese beech, Taiwan cherry, camphor trees, glossleaf oaks, and sweet gums.

Opening Hours: 08:00 – 17:00. The park is open year-round, but the service center is closed on Lunar New Year’s Eve and every Monday (except during winter and summer vacations).
