Petals in full bloom—The Sanzhi and Shiding Tung Blossom Festival is here!

As spring transitions into summer, it’s once again the season for tung blossoms. To allow more visitors to enjoy the stunning "May snow" scenery, the New Taipei City Government has organized tung blossom viewing events in Sanzhi and Shiding, inviting everyone to come and admire the breathtaking sight of falling petals.

● Sanzhi
In the past, around 4 hectares of tung trees were planted in New Taipei City’s Sanchih District to meet oil refining needs. When the flowers bloom, the area is blanketed in a flurry of falling blossoms, as mesmerizing as snowfall. To facilitate public enjoyment of the tung blossoms, the New Taipei City Government and the Council of Indigenous Peoples helped rebuild the area, completing a scenic tung blossom trail.

The Sansheng Trail along Dakeng Creek connects the cherry blossom trail, tung blossom trail, and terraced fields. With the addition of a newly planted wisteria arbor, the area offers pink cherry blossoms from January to March, purple wisteria in April, and white tung blossoms in May. This strip of health-promoting trail is like a paradise on earth. Strolling along it, you’ll be surrounded by vibrant blooms, fragrant blossoms, and the gentle sound of flowing water—an experience you won’t want to end!

Additionally, the New Taipei City Tamsui Land Administration Office has scheduled an event on Sunday, April 26, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, in conjunction with the New Taipei City Sanchih District Office’s "Sanchih District Tung Blossom Festival: Art, Color, and Tung Blossom Fun" at the Sansheng Trail in Hengshan Village, Sanchih District. The event will include land administration professional consultations and promotions of convenient land services. A Facebook like-and-win activity will also be held on-site, where participants can receive one practical small gift each, limited to 50 gifts while supplies last.

● Shiding
Shiding is a mountain town rich in forest scenery and natural ecology. In late spring and early summer, it’s the season when snow-white tung blossoms blanket the hillsides, coinciding with the spring tea harvest. On May 2, 2015, the Shiding District Office organized a "Flying Snow Tung Blossoms & Drifting Tea Aroma" hiking event, featuring activities such as strolls along the tung blossom trail, a farmers’ market, eco-guided tours, tung blossom tea sessions, drum celebrations for the harvest, and new renditions of tea songs... among others. Additionally, 1,500 limited-edition souvenirs were given away.
