In celebration of International Museum Day on May 18, over a hundred museums nationwide are offering discounts and free admission, hosting various promotional events on May 17–18. These include the National Palace Museum, the National Museum of Contemporary Art, and many other venues. Make the most of your weekend and plan an artsy little getaway for yourself.

[New Taipei City]
◎ New Taipei City’s Tamsui Historic Museum, Gold Museum, Sanxia History Museum, Yingge Ceramics Museum, National Heritage Site Lin Ben Yuan Estate, and Taipower Northern Exhibition Hall offer free admission on May 17.
◎ The Preparatory Office of the National Human Rights Museum offers free admission to both Green Island Human Rights Memorial Park and Jingmei Human Rights Cultural Park on May 17 (including guided tours and educational activities).
◎ Yingge Ceramics Museum celebrates International Museum Day 518 by offering a special price of NT$518 for the “Ceramics Museum Building Color-Changing Mug” (original price NT$699) at the museum’s cultural goods store during the event period.
◎ The Museum of World Religions offers an 20% discount on admission to the permanent exhibits and Children’s Museum for visitors on May 16–17, as well as a 10% discount at the gift shop.
 
[Taipei City]
◎ Taipei Digital Art Center, Qian Mu’s Former Residence, Taipei Guqin Culture Hall, Li Kuo-ting’s Former Residence, Futo Street Western-style Building, and Ximending Red House offer free admission on May 17, 2015.
◎ The National Palace Museum offers free admission on May 18.
◎ The National Taiwan Museum offers a 10% discount on purchases at the museum’s cooperative store during “Museum Month” in May.
◎ The National Museum of History offers a 10% discount on purchases at the He Feng Shui Yue on the second floor and Cutty Sark on the fourth floor on May 17.
◎ The National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall offers a 5% discount on dining at the Lide Restaurant or shopping at the souvenir center from May 1–31, and a free cup of black tea with toffee when spending NT$150 or more at the Bigtom Restaurant by Cuihu Lake.
◎ The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Administration offers a 20% discount on purchasing CKS-developed cultural and creative products or publications at the memorial hall’s museum shop from May 16–18.
◎ The Taipei Museum of Contemporary Art offers free admission on May 17. Visitors who participate in the “International Museum Day” special event can also enter a free lucky draw, with chances to win free exhibition tickets or surprise gifts.

[Keelung City]
◎ Keelung Story House and Ghost Festival Cultural Relics Museum offer free admission on May 17.
◎ Yangming Marine Culture and Arts Museum offers free admission on May 16–17.
 
[Taoyuan City]
◎ Taoyuan City Indigenous Peoples Cultural Affairs Hall offers free admission on May 17–18. Visitors who check in and like the hall’s Facebook page on May 17 using their mobile phones will receive one of 50 limited-edition souvenirs.
 
[Hsinchu City]
◎ Image Museum offers free admission on May 17.
 
[Hsinchu County]
◎ Hsiao Jui-Sung Art Park, Laohukou Catholic Church Cultural Hall, Shuqi Forest Cultural Hall, Zhang Xueliang Cultural Park, Hsinchu County History Museum, Deng Nan-guang Image Memorial Hall, and Jin Guangcheng Cultural Hall offer free admission on May 17.
◎ At Laohukou Catholic Church Cultural Hall on May 17, visitors showing the event brochure can enjoy a 20% discount on purchasing Hope Sauce Chili Sauce from Mana Flavor Restaurant (partner store), and a 10% discount on wellness teas at Mana Garden Tea House.
