Created by the popular French chef Gontran Cherrier, whose eponymous bakery is famed for having the best croissants in Paris, Gontran Cherrier — hereafter referred to as GC — had a 15-day pop-up at Banqiao Dayeh Mall late last year. Now, GC will open its second store at Banqiao Dayeh Mall, with an expected opening in April.
Following the launch of four types of bread featuring local Taiwanese ingredients such as Eastern Beauty tea, basil, sweet potato, and dried pork floss when it opened in July, the bakery has since developed an onion croissant that combines the aroma of scallions with the crispy texture of GC’s signature croissants, as well as a matcha red bean pastry with smooth red bean paste filling.

Its croissants once sparked a French bread craze in Japan and South Korea. After the opening of its first store at the National Father Memorial Hall, the second GONTRAN CHERRIER store is set to open in April at Banqiao Dayeh Mall.
