Japan’s Winter-Only “Snow Walk” – Step into a Fairy-Tale Forest Where the Little People Live

After visiting the enchanting Farm Galaxy Night Light-Up event at the must-see Ojiya’s Little Kongque Farm, what else is there to do? Nestled in the heavy snow region of Tohoku, snow scenery is never in short supply here. Leveraging the farm’s exceptional natural resources, Little Kongque Farm has launched a “Snow Walk” activity. Put on snowshoes and step into the woods, as if entering the fairy-tale forest where the Seven Dwarfs live – an experience that leaves a deep impression.

Little Kongque Farm is open to the public free of charge during winter, with only the dining areas and experience activities requiring separate fees. Staff noted that the farm spans 3,000 hectares, and to help visitors connect with nature, specially made snowshoes are provided in winter so guests can freely explore the silver-white world and enjoy the romance of walking in the snow.

Walking across silvery white slopes and into the woods feels like falling into the forest where the Seven Dwarfs of fairy tales reside. The silent forest is only accompanied by the sound of babbling brooks, but walkers must also stay alert — thin, dry branches unable to bear the thick snow may suddenly shed their load, and unfortunately, we walkers are the ones who get dumped on. One moment of carelessness, and you’ll be instantly crowned with a head of white snow.

The Snow Walk also offers another must-do: thanks to the thick snow cover, try lying straight back in the wide snowy field and leaving your body-shaped “big” imprint on the snow — a staff-recommended activity for winter snow walks.
