The famously quirky Voodoo Doughnuts from the U.S. are making their debut in Taiwan

After the American brand Krispy Kreme sparked a doughnut craze upon its Taiwan opening in 2013, the famously offbeat American "Voodoo Doughnut" will also open a location in Taiwan in June 2015.

Voodoo Doughnut, based in Portland, Oregon, USA, is famous for selling uniquely shaped doughnuts modeled after voodoo dolls. Prices start as low as $0.95 USD (approximately NT$30) per doughnut, with nearly 90 flavors to choose from, offering plenty of delightful surprises. The “Bacon Maple Bar” is a must-try flavor. In addition to their eye-catching designs, the staff at Voodoo Doughnut are also known for their eccentric behavior. Although the shop is open 24 hours in the U.S., employees occasionally yell “We’re closed!” at the waiting crowds — an oddly charming business style that has attracted tourists from around the world. Its popularity has even led American media to refer to Voodoo Doughnut as Portland’s “international tourist attraction.”
