Tens of thousands of roses light up Dongdaemun again, with pandas joining in to create an eye-catching spectacle

The LED Rose Garden exhibition, held at Seoul’s new landmark Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), was a short-term display that captivated visitors with its fantastical and romantic sea of flowers. Loved by travelers from around the world, the originally planned one-month exhibition was repeatedly extended. Now, DDP has relaunched the LED rose sea starting April 18, with displays continuing until February 29, 2016, keeping the snow-white rose sea shining through the nights of Dongdaemun.

The LED Rose Garden exhibition was a special showcase prepared by renowned watchmaker OMEGA to promote its new product line. Over 20,000 roses were “planted” in the central plaza of Dongdaemun Design Plaza, creating a spectacular sea of illuminated roses. The sight of so many roses lighting up together at night even caught the attention of international superstar Nicole Kidman. Initially slated for just one month, the exhibition was repeatedly extended thanks to popular demand. Starting April 18, DDP revived the display, and on May 30, 1,600 pandas made a surprise one-afternoon visit to the rose garden. This fun, limited-time scene delighted many lucky visitors. Travelers planning a shopping trip to Dongdaemun before the end of February next year shouldn’t miss the chance to snap photos at the lawn plaza.
