Pink-hued rainy season blooms at Meikei Waterfall as 40,000 hydrangeas flourish

With June arriving, Saga Prefecture in Japan also enters the season when hydrangeas (also known as ajisai) begin to bloom. During the somewhat muggy rainy season, it's highly recommended to visit Meikei Waterfall to escape the heat and admire the hydrangeas. This waterfall has been selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls, famous for its 100-meter drop. The surrounding scenery takes on different hues with the blossoms of each season, and from early June to early July, over 40,000 hydrangeas of more than 50 varieties can be seen in full bloom here. Every year, many tourists make special trips to enjoy the view.

During the hydrangea blooming season, the pink-purple and blue tones set against the waterfall create a beautiful scene that makes you forget the heat. The area around the waterfall also features facilities such as parks and suspension bridges, allowing visitors to enjoy the scenery from various angles. Additionally, you can stroll along the walking paths around the waterfall, surrounded by a landscape blanketed in hydrangeas. Meikei Waterfall is open to visitors for daytime flower viewing during the season, and in the evenings, the stunning scenery is further enhanced with illuminated lighting.
