The MERS outbreak in South Korea continues to spread. On June 2, the Taiwan CDC raised the travel health notice level to Level 2 (Alert). As of June 3, the number of confirmed cases has risen to 30, with two deaths reported. If you are planning to visit South Korea for sightseeing or travel, remember to wash your hands frequently, avoid going to hospitals as much as possible, and if you develop symptoms such as fever upon returning or have related concerns, you can call the toll-free epidemic prevention hotline 1922.

To respond to the MERS outbreak, the Taiwan CDC has activated five key standard operating procedures, including enhanced temperature screening at borders, inquiries about travel history, distributing health education leaflets to all passengers arriving from South Korea, and conducting onboard quarantine when necessary. In addition, the Tourism Bureau reminds the public that there is no need for excessive panic at present, and wearing masks outdoors in open spaces is not required. However, those who have plans to travel to South Korea in the near future should still:Remember to wash hands frequently,Wear a mask if experiencing respiratory symptoms or feverAnd try toAvoid visiting hospitalsas three key precautions. Additionally, those already in South Korea who need to enter hospitals or crowded places should also remember to carry and properly wear masks, while ensuring they remain dry—replace them if they become damp and avoid reuse. Moreover, aside from Seoul, other regional cities in South Korea are categorized under Level 1 (Watch) for travel health notices.
