Totoro Has Arrived – Taiwan’s First Studio Ghibli Flagship Store Opens in Taiwan

Taiwan’s first specialty store for merchandise from Studio Ghibli works, “Donguri Republic,” announced its opening on July 2, located on the B1 floor of ATT 4 FUN in Taipei’s Xinyi District, covering an area of 88.8 pyeong, making it the largest branch in the world.

Among the approximately 40 “Donguri Republic” stores in Japan and 2 in Hong Kong, the newly opened Xinyi store is the largest in terms of floor space globally. At the store entrance, a life-sized Totoro will welcome guests, recreating the bus stop scene where Totoro and Mei meet for the first time. Walking through the forest tunnel into the store, you’ll find another life-sized Totoro taking a nap. Further inside, you can also see a giant Catbus. Here, you can experience what it’s like to be immersed in the animated world of Studio Ghibli.

The store offers popular dolls, intricately crafted figurines, practical daily goods, as well as the Taiwan edition of DVDs and other related books. In addition, to celebrate the grand opening of Taiwan’s first store, exclusive merchandise such as apparel and stationery items, initially available only in Hong Kong, will be launched ahead of other regions. In the future, they also hope to collaborate with local creators to introduce limited-edition items that convey the emotions and memories people feel when watching Studio Ghibli’s works, becoming a special place in daily life that is full of warmth, nostalgia, and inspiration.
