A New Perspective in Kaohsiung: The Skywalk of Greater and Lesser Gangshan

Greater and Lesser Gangshan have many existing facilities that are either outdated or poorly maintained. Therefore, the city has decided to promote an overall plan for Agongdian Reservoir and improve the landscape of surrounding roads. This includes a comprehensive review of the safety of existing recreational facilities and trails, with phased improvement and renovation projects. The Kaohsiung City Government has demolished two damaged observation decks on Xiaogangshan and built the Dagangshan Thousand-Step Stone Stairway, Bodhi Avenue, Xiaogangshan Observation Platform (Haohan Pavilion), parking lot, road paving, and a comprehensive regional guidance system to enhance the overall environment. Next, a skywalk will be designed to connect the parking lot and Haohan Pavilion, introducing the international-grade landscapes of Greater and Lesser Gangshan to visitors nationwide.

The revitalized Greater and Lesser Gangshan not only provide a more comfortable leisure environment but also boast expansive views: to the east, you can admire the lake scenery of Agongdian Reservoir; to the west, you can overlook the urban landscapes of Gangshan and Yong'an, as well as the high-speed trains speeding by, and even catch glimpses of the mountains around Zhongliaoshan. On clear days, you might even see Beidawushan of the Central Mountain Range's main ridge and the Taiwan Strait. Additionally, the nearby mountainous industrial roads are dotted with tea houses and free-range chicken restaurants, and the area is adjacent to the Agongdian Reservoir Scenic Area, making it a great place for side trips during your hike.

Transportation Information for Greater and Lesser Gangshan:
◎ Xiaogangshan Transportation:
* From TRA Xingangshan Station → walk to Wenxian Market → transfer to Red 69A bus → get off at Gangshan Bus Station → walk about 30 minutes → reach Xiaogangshan Trail
* By Car: From Freeway 1 (southbound), take Gangshan Interchange → connect to County Highway 186 → turn right onto Gangyan Road → turn left onto Jiaxin East Road → reach Xiaogangshan Trail
* From Freeway 3 (northbound), take Yancao System Interchange (Kaohsiung) → switch to Freeway 10 to Yancao Interchange → connect to Provincial Highway 22 → turn right onto County Highway 186 → turn right onto Gangyan Road → turn right onto Jiaxin East Road → reach Xiaogangshan Trail
* Kaohsiung MRT to Nangangshan Station, then take Port City Bus Red 70 or Kaohsiung Bus 8013
◎ Dagangshan Transportation:
* Take Port City Bus Red 70 or Kaohsiung Bus 8012 and get off at Jiujui Stop
* A "Dagangshan Holiday Sightseeing Bus" is available on weekends
