● Golden Shower Tree (Cassia fistula)
In late May and June, the golden shower trees burst into bloom. Their golden flowers fall gently in the wind like a dreamy, enchanting “golden rain.” Located in Suantou, Chiayi, the Suantou Bicycle Path is lined with golden shower trees along both sides for 450 meters. Follow Provincial Highway 157 past the Liujiao Township Office, then make a left turn about 20 meters before reaching the Liutou Work Station of the Chiayi-Pingtung Irrigation Association to find the bike path. It’s just a two-minute drive from there.

● Cherry Blossoms

Phoenix Nature Education Area
Chasing cherry blossoms in spring has become a nationwide trend across Taiwan. In Nantou County’s Lugu Township, a favorite hidden spot for central Taiwan locals to admire cherry blossoms, the pink cherry blossom tunnel at Phoenix Nature Education Area is especially romantic. With over 300 cherry blossom trees planted—including varieties like Kawazu-zakura, double-flowered cherry, Somei-yoshino, mountain cherry, and WuShe-zakura—the tunnel features Somei-yoshino blossoms lining both sides of the 333 stone-step pathway. The fresh pink petals bloom one after another, creating a dreamlike scene straight out of a fairy tale.
