The “Taipei Azalea Season” kicks off on March 1st, with nearly 500,000 azaleas adorning the city of Taipei

Winter has passed, and spring is just around the corner！ This year, the Taipei City Government has teamed up with National Taiwan University for the first time to host the “Taipei Azalea Season.” Centered around the city flower — the azalea — the event features plantings stretching from Roosevelt Road along Xinsheng South Road to Da’an Forest Park, as well as along Ren’ai Road. The area is enhanced with a variety of plantings, artworks, and character decorations to bring fresh creative touches,with the exhibition running from March 1st to March 31st, 2017,allowing the public to immerse themselves among the pink-hued blossoms.

For flower lovers looking to take a stroll and admire the azaleas, you can exit at Exit 5 of Da’an Forest Park MRT Station to see numerous Kanto azaleas scattered across the gentle slopes around the station, with colorful hanging floral orbs decorating the central walkway of the park. In addition, over 20 highlight spots have been arranged along roads near National Taiwan University, transforming Taipei into a true garden city.

In addition to the city areas where azaleas can be spotted everywhere, Yangmingshan also offers many azaleas to enjoy in conjunction with the flower season. With nearly 500,000 azaleas across Taipei, the vibrant floral displays bring a touch of greenery to the otherwise cold urban landscape.

In conjunction with the “Taipei Azalea Season,” the usually ticketed Taipei Water Park will open free of charge on March 4th, 11th, and 18th. In addition to Kanto and fine-leaf azaleas, the park also features Oshima cherry blossoms for visitors to admire. On March 4th at 2 PM, there will be a “Spring Retro Party”; on March 18th, there will also be a “Happiness Picnic Concert.” During the event period, various themed activities will be held every weekend at Da’an Forest Park, National Taiwan University campus, and the Wenluoding shopping district, inviting the public to picnic, listen to music, explore markets, and admire azaleas, getting an early taste of Taipei’s vibrant spring energy.
