The world’s first Japanese-style shabu-shabu restaurant themed around Hello Kitty officially began its soft opening on July 7. Ever since the news broke in March that Hello Kitty Shabu-Shabu would open in Taipei’s East District, fans have been eagerly anticipating it, making it a hot topic. Reservations opened to the public on July 1, and online bookings are already fully booked through September. Phone reservations are also completely full during peak hours, regardless of weekdays or weekends. Currently, there are still available slots during non-peak dining hours, so fans eager to try it out should hurry and book soon.

Hello Kitty Shabu-Shabu is filled with thoughtful touches incorporating Kitty elements throughout the space. Right at the entrance, you’ll find an adorable Hello Kitty figurine holding a hot pot dish to welcome guests. Inside the restaurant, the decor makes extensive use of wooden materials, and looking up, you’ll see butterfly-shaped lamps, Kitty murals, and other whimsical decorations adorning the space. In addition to regular seating areas, there’s also a traditional Japanese-style private room that creates a fully immersive Japanese atmosphere.
