Road running events in Taiwan are booming, and now even the Earth God is joining in. On October 17, 2015, the Hulongdi Earth God Temple in Zhonghe District, New Taipei City, will host its first “Fei Long Cup Hulongdi Marathon.” The event combines the unique culture and local beliefs of Zhonghe District, giving it special significance. All finishers will receive a medal engraved with the image of the Earth God and a “fortune cash gift” from Nanshan Fude Palace to bless everyone with safety, prosperity, and wealth!

The first “Fei Long Cup Hulongdi Marathon” is the first-ever marathon in Zhonghe District, New Taipei City. Supported by both local residents and government bodies, this event is initiated by a civil group and includes42.2a full marathon (42 km),21.1a half marathon (21 km),12and a 10 km competitive run. The route goes downhill from the Nanshan Fude Palace on the mountain at Hulongdi, turns around midway, and returns — offering a significant challenge. A total of6200participants will be accepted. In addition, the event integrates distinctive cultural elements of Zhonghe District, such as the Burmese Street water-splashing tradition, the Nanshi Corner night market, the Nanshan Fude Palace fortune cash gift, the Hulongdi Earth God grandpa figurine, as well as food, fun, and entertainment. After the race, there will also be a banquet-style feast, along with performances like pole dancing and electric-powered San Taizi (a popular local performance).
