Every year on July 14th, passionate balls, colorful fireworks, and impressive military parades are held across France—this is the French National Day celebration！During this time, although the French naturally organize various activities related to the festivities, the origins of the holiday are not even that clear to the French themselves.

For the first time, July 14th, 1789, was the day of the storming of the Bastille in Paris. When French revolutionaries had just formed the first constitutional assembly in French history, King Louis XVI, in an attempt to preserve his power and monarchy, asked Swiss and Prussian troops to be stationed in the suburbs of Paris. The revolutionaries, fearing the fledgling French army, decided to first take over the Hôtel des Invalides, where a large cache of weapons was stored to prepare for confronting Louis XVI’s forces.
