Emirates A380 Superjumbo Makes Its Grand Debut in Taiwan

With an extensive global network, Emirates has seen steady growth in the Taiwanese market since launching the Taipei-Dubai route in 2014, carrying over 280,000 passengers. In response to the demand from Taiwanese travelers for Emirates' products and services, the Emirates A380 made a one-time special flight from Dubai, arriving at Taoyuan International Airport to meet Taiwanese passengers. Emirates also became the first airline to operate an A380 double-deck passenger aircraft to Taiwan after the completion of the renovation of the southern runway at Taoyuan Airport and the construction of new smart double-deck airbridges.

Emirates Flight EK366, operated by an A380, departed Dubai at 4:05 AM local time and arrived at Gate C2 of Terminal 2 at Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan at 4:40 PM. The inaugural A380 Taipei event was greeted with performances by indigenous children singing traditional songs and lion dances. The press conference was attended by Liu Jung-chu, Vice President of Emirates for Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Guangzhou; Fan Zhigu, Executive Vice Minister of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications; and Fei Hongjun, General Manager of Taoyuan International Airport Corporation.

Liu Jung-chu, Vice President of Emirates for Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Guangzhou, said: “Emirates is honored to be the first airline to fly the A380 to Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan. Taiwan is a very important market for Emirates. Since we launched the Taipei–Dubai route in 2014, we have witnessed strong market demand, and we are pleased to have this opportunity to introduce our iconic A380 aircraft and its unique offerings to Taiwanese travelers.”

Fei Hongjun, General Manager of Taoyuan International Airport Corporation, also stated: “Today, we are honored to welcome the arrival of the Emirates A380 together with distinguished guests. The airport company and all staff take great pride in this. After a year of preparation and airport renovation, the arrival of the A380 affirms the quality of Taoyuan Airport’s facilities, equipment, and professional capabilities.”

The A380 cabin features 14 private first-class suites with massage-equipped seats; 76 business-class seats that recline up to 87 inches; and 401 spacious economy-class seats. Two thoughtfully designed onboard spa showers offer first-class passengers a comfortable and enjoyable journey. The onboard lounge provides a selection of fine wines and delicate snacks, creating a vibrant social atmosphere for first-class and business-class passengers. Additionally, passengers flying on the Emirates A380 can enjoy the ice (information, communication, entertainment) in-flight entertainment system with over 2,000 channels, complimentary in-flight Wi-Fi, a variety of meals, and beverages.
