No need to travel all the way to Hokkaido to enjoy a sea of flowers — you can see it right here in Tokyo. The annual Sunflower Festival in Kiyose City, Tokyo, runs from August 18 to 31. The two-hectare venue transforms into a sea of one hundred thousand sunflowers, with golden waves swaying in the breeze — a breathtaking sight that’s truly unforgettable.

Since 2008, Kiyose City in the Tama area of Tokyo has hosted an annual Sunflower Festival. The two-hectare venue is planted with up to 100,000 sunflowers, creating a dazzling golden sea of blooms. This vast field is usually used by local farmers to grow wheat, but it's specially planted with sunflowers during the festival period and opened to visitors. Every year, large crowds come to admire the golden ocean made up of tens of thousands of sunflowers. In addition, the surrounding area sells fresh local vegetables unique to Kiyose City. Sunflower cut flowers are also available for those who want to take a piece of summer’s vibrant energy home with them.
