An overseas global travel website’s campaign to select Asia’s best aquariums has ranked the top 25 aquariums in Asia for 2015. Among them, the National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium in Pingtung, Taiwan, achieved an impressive 4th place, not only moving up one spot from last year but also becoming the top choice in the China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan region.

Located in Checheng Township, Pingtung, the National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium was awarded 5th place as Asia’s best aquarium last year. This year, it climbed one more spot, ranking among the top 1% of the best attractions in Asia. Covering an area of over 60 hectares, the museum is mainly divided into three sections: the Taiwan Pavilion, the Coral Kingdom, and the World Pavilion. The Taiwan Pavilion uses educational methods combined with professional simulation techniques to fully present the rich ecology of Taiwan and its adjacent waters, taking visitors on a journey from mountain to sea. The Coral Kingdom, themed around the South China Sea, creates a dreamlike underwater palace. Follow the path of explorers and walk through Asia’s longest underwater tunnel to admire the beautiful marine world. The World Pavilion is the world’s first waterless aquarium featuring 3D virtual reality, transcending time and space to take people back to the ancient oceans of hundreds of millions of years ago; the Polar Water Area displays penguins from Antarctica and puffins from the Arctic, whose adorable appearances are especially loved by children. The entire facility combines natural ecology with interactive education, making it a highly popular attraction among both domestic and international tourists.
