Korean restaurant in Taichung: Bold wraps featuring an entire soft-shell crab!

I’m sure many of you know about “KATZ Fusion Restaurant” in the Jingming Business District — this trendy Korean eatery is always bustling with people. We loved it so much after our first visit that we even ordered takeout through the FoodPanda app sometimes XD This week, while following their Facebook page, I found out that KATZ has opened a new branch near the Art Museum ~ So right after work, I went to check out how the new place feels like. It has more space, with some variation in the menu, but what we love remains the same — and even more so now ^~^

The section along the Green Park Boulevard by the Art Museum used to be one of the top dining battlegrounds in Taichung back when I was a student. I remember places like Pumpkin House and Walnut that we used to go to. Although they’re not as bustling as before, weekends still see a steady stream of visitors from other cities. One can only say that Taichung residents are truly blessed with an abundance of delicious food. Whether it’s the freshness that appeals to younger crowds or classic old flavors, there's something for everyone.

Since its opening, “KATZ Fusion Restaurant” in the Jingming Business District has been doing great business — it hasn’t lost any popularity over time. The newly opened Art Museum branch has even more space, and with the nearby Green Park Boulevard, weekend bookings will surely be hard to come by. Walking into the restaurant, it’s spacious and comfy, with a bright, open feel enhanced by industrial-style pipes and light fixtures. I often find myself getting lost in admiring these details — they’re exactly my kind of thing XD

The staff led us upstairs to our seats, and the second floor is even more spacious. There are tables for two, four, and larger groups — the distance between tables isn’t too close, leaving plenty of room in the aisles. I really like the decor KATZ uses, like the red pendant lights with air plants hanging from them — connecting the living with the non-living, adding a touch of gentleness.

From this angle, at the end of the corridor on the left is the restroom. There’s a large floor lamp shining onto a wall where the floral and brick patterns look like artwork. I called over a friend and joked that girls could stand here for photoshoots, enjoying the spotlight on them XD

Since we caught the opening discount of 10% off and were feeling a little peckish that evening, we went all out and ordered three dishes XD But it wasn’t until later that I realized I’d gotten a bit greedy. Adding one more dish felt like a bit too much, and we ended up super full afterward. So my advice is to know your limits ~

By the way, the tables at “KATZ Fusion Restaurant” are beautiful too — those gorgeous marble tabletops make any tableware look classic. As a kid, I didn’t appreciate the veining, but over the years I’ve grown to love it. Paired with these custom-made utensils, it’s genuinely stylish and cool. Literary youths would definitely love it XD

#Spicy Cheese Rice Cakes 278 TWD

The portions at “KATZ Fusion Restaurant” are generally designed for one person. When dining in a group, you can order several dishes to share. The spicy rice cakes are flavorful, loaded with melted cheese and egg, and served with warm hand-pressed rice balls that are super tasty ^~^ We’re also huge fans of their handheld bento boxes and fried chicken — we often get them delivered XD

#Fried Phoenix Chicken 298 TWD

This dish was recommended by the staff, and it was our first time trying it ~ But we got hooked after the first bite. It has the feel of a traditional Korean home-cooked dish. Each piece of chicken is infused with sauce, tender but not mushy. That slightly sweet and salty flavor is just right ~ My friend couldn’t stop praising it, and the portion of meat is very generous. You can actually see an entire chicken leg XD

#Kebab Wrap 298 TWD

This one I ordered on a whim. I definitely won’t admit it was because I saw the word “crab” XD (Seafood lover strikes again ~~~) This dish lets you choose two types of meat (pork, chicken, beef, or soft-shell crab), and I went with beef and soft-shell crab. When it arrived, the generous filling and portion size shocked me. Each wrap is so overstuffed it’s almost falling apart, so you kinda need a bit of boldness to handle it. Probably not ideal for lovebirds XD

Grabbing and eating it boldly is super satisfying. Inside there’s lettuce, cheese, and a special sauce — not greasy at all, and actually quite suitable for summer. And the soft-shell crab is a whole one, intact. Just seeing it made me want to take a big bite. The crispy fried soft-shell crab paired with the wrap is absolutely delightful ^~^

This “KATZ Fusion Restaurant” isn’t a new place, but its popularity and quality have always been things I’ve liked. Now that it’s opened a new branch near the Art Museum, right next to Yani, you can grab dessert from next door after your meal. Just thinking about it makes me happy.
