Typhoon Soudelor battered Taiwan, knocking over numerous trees and signboards with its powerful winds, leaving the area in ruins. But the fierce gales also accidentally gave rise to a hot topic.At the intersection of Nanjing and Longjiang Roads, a red and a green postbox were accidentally knocked into a playful “leaning” position by a collapsed signboard. Their adorable appearance attracted many passersby to take photos, and some even struck the “Apache sister” pose for pictures together. Dubbed the “cutest postboxes,” they’ve become an alternative new attraction.

To avoid disrupting traffic and ensure road safety, Chunghwa Post announced that the leaning postboxes will be relocated next week to the location of the Beimen Post Office on Taipei’s Bo’ai Road. The postal service will also install a sign explaining the story behind the leaning postboxes, reminding visitors of the importance of typhoon preparedness. Additionally, after the move, there will no longer be postal workers stationed by the boxes for photo ops, so those wanting to take pictures with both the postman and the postboxes should act quickly.
