Taiwan’s northernmost lighthouse, the “Fugui Cape Lighthouse,” has been opened to visitors starting August 29, becoming the 11th lighthouse in Taiwan to be open to the public. On the same day, the North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration will hold an event at the Fugui Cape Lighthouse titled “At Taiwan’s Northern Tip – Fugui Cape, Tourism and Joy,” inviting everyone to appreciate the beauty of the Fugui Cape Lighthouse.

Taiwan’s northernmost lighthouse, the “Fugui Cape Lighthouse,” was built in 1896 and is the first lighthouse constructed by the Japanese in Taiwan. Previously located within a military-controlled area, it had always been shrouded in mystery. Now, under the planning of the Maritime and Port Bureau, it has been opened to the public, with a series of events scheduled for August 29. First, the Tourism Bureau’s North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration will host the “Tying the Knot at Fugui Cape, A Wealthy & Healthy Walk” activity, where participants can receive a certificate of visiting Taiwan’s northernmost point and, by registering online, can also enjoy free DIY kite painting. Then, the Maritime and Port Bureau will hold the “At Taiwan’s Northern Tip – Fugui Cape, Tourism and Joy” event, featuring live band performances, allowing guests to enjoy a poetic and atmospheric “Lighthouse Feast.”

The Maritime and Port Bureau stated that the Fugui Cape Lighthouse is located at Fugui Cape, Taiwan’s northernmost point, serving as a relay station along the coastal lighthouse walking trail. The surrounding area includes Fugui Cape Park, Laomei Green Reef, and Fugui Fishing Harbor. The opening of the Fugui Cape Lighthouse park area provides visitors with an additional recreational spot.
