The famous layered cake Lady M, once only available abroad, finally landed in Taiwan in 2017, making many dessert lovers eager to try and relish it. After the official store opening, getting your hands on Lady M’s classic layered cake was no longer a challenge. ▲ Limited to two slices per person and still super hard to get.

This layered cake dessert studio called “Shi Yi Approprié” has no physical store or official website—it’s only sold on its fan page. Flavors are announced every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for ordering, and they usually sell out the moment they’re posted. To maintain freshness and integrity, Shi Yi’s cakes are not available for delivery—pickup is only at Taipei Metro Da’an Station, and limited to one set (two slices) per person. It’s really not easy to get your hands on these cakes.

▲ Making ultra-thin cake layers requires real skill.

Yet despite such a high-barrier ordering process, Shi Yi Approprié still manages to keep customers coming back for more. Unlike some mass-market layered cakes where each layer varies in thickness, every layer of Shi Yi’s cake is as thin as paper. Achieving such delicate sheets takes serious effort. Paired with whipped cream made from Taiwanese tea leaves, Japanese matcha, and cocoa powder, the layers are intricately stacked to create a perfect balance of texture and flavor. One bite and it melts away on your tongue—that’s the delicious secret behind its ongoing popularity on online dessert studio lists.
