Traveling to the forest is one of the best ways for modern people to heal their body and soul. Located in Sanyi Township, Miaoli County, the “Green Leaf Ark” centers around the theme of happiness. It cultivates various seasonal flowers and plants such as maple trees, camellias, mountain cherry blossoms, tung flowers, and lilies. As the seasons change, it transforms into different landscapes, making visitors feel like sprites dancing gracefully among blooming flowers.

Established in 2003, the Green Leaf Ark was originally a complete valley terraced field. Over 30 years, the land has been nurtured using natural ecological engineering methods. The park extensively plants trees with minimal development to create a symbiotic space for humans, land, and the environment. There are several large patches of lawn with few artificial decorations, maintaining an original appearance throughout. The stone paths are blanketed with a natural carpet of maple and fallen cherry blossoms. Walking along the trails, you breathe in rich phytoncides and immerse yourself in the embrace of nature.

After passing through the white archway at the entrance, you’ll see a red brick spire building paired with an all-white structure. Inside, a variety of small goods are sold. One corner of the wall features an unmissable photo spot — ten iron cats lying or sitting on the wall, each with different poses and designs, creating an adorable and playful vibe.

The main building is equally impressive — a two-story high wooden house with floor-to-ceiling windows that let soft sunlight filter indoors, offering a greenhouse-like dining experience. On the second-floor platform stands a wooden ark that ties in perfectly with the restaurant’s name. The surroundings are planted with tung trees, and climbing plants cover the exterior walls, creating the ambiance of a forest cabin. On sunny days, you can also choose to sit in the outdoor umbrella area to enjoy a closer connection with nature.

Unlike typical scenic restaurants, this place offers what’s claimed to be five-star French-Italian cuisine, including pizza, meat platters, and vegetarian set meals. Prices are mid to upper range. In addition to Western dishes, the chef incorporates local Miaoli specialties into the menu, such as roasted spring chicken served with Hakka orange sauce — a truly unique dish.
