Strolling Amidst the Clouds: Hokkaido’s CloudSea Walk “CloudWalk”

Want to experience the thrill of walking on clouds? The Cloud Sea Terrace at Hokkaido’s Hoshino Resorts Tomamu is famed for letting visitors bathe up close in cascading seas of clouds, attracting numerous tourists during its open season. Starting this September, a brand-new Cloud Sea Walk has been added, allowing guests not just to admire the view from afar but to enjoy the novel sensation of strolling amidst the clouds themselves.

The newly added Cloud Sea Walk “Cloud Walk,” stretching approximately 200 meters, features a cloud-like curved deck built along a slope. Walking along it offers visitors a 210-degree panoramic view of the majestic mountain scenery, and when the sea of clouds rolls in, it creates the surreal illusion of walking above the clouds.

The best months to enjoy the spectacular sea of clouds are between May and October, with this year’s opening period ending on October 13. Depending on weather conditions, there is also a possibility that the sea of clouds may not appear or that the site will be closed. Visitors planning to go are advised to call the Unkai Dial hotline or check the official website of Hokkaido’s Hoshino Resorts Tomamu for the day’s operating status and cloud viewing probability in advance.
