The Dutch Windmill Festival Kicks Off at Deyuanpi

The 2015 Deyuanpi Dutch Village Windmill Festival was held from October 8 to 25. During the event, the park featured a variety of installation art pieces, including a large Dutch windmill reminiscent of the Tokyo Skytree, along with oversized colorful paper windmills that evoke joyful memories for both kids and adults. There were also Dutch dolls and little calves posing for "cheese" photos, as well as countless tiny windmills spinning in the breeze, forming adorable tulip and cow patterns on the ground that welcomed young visitors.

During weekends and holidays, the park also invites street performers such as jazz drummer Huang Sheng, and features food and local specialty sales areas for visitors to enjoy. The event also includes specially planned water activities such as canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding.

Tainan City Government has developed a “Dutch Village” by Deyuanpi Lake, blending local characteristics with a global charm, allowing everyone to enjoy the relaxed and pleasant ambiance of a European countryside without boarding a plane. The park features numerous branching waterways and is dotted with charming bridges, such as the Van Gogh Bridge. In addition to authentically imported large Dutch windmills, there are many hidden spots waiting to be discovered. During the festival weekends, visitors who pick up a game brochure in the park and collect stamps from six featured attractions can exchange them for beautiful souvenirs at the visitor service center.
