The 2015 Taiwan Hot Springs & Gourmet Carnival event kicked off on October 2 in the Sichongxi Hot Spring area of Pingtung County. This event gathered over 180 hot spring businesses and restaurants across Taiwan to offer a range of attractive discounts. By picking up a “Discount Passport” at any of Taiwan’s tourism service centers, visitors can enjoy discounted hot spring experiences at designated establishments. With the hot spring season now underway across the country, a variety of promotional activities have been launched. As the weather cools down, it's the perfect time to soak in some quality hot springs—don’t miss out.

●Taipei Hot Spring Season(2015/10/29 – 2015/11/2)

This year’s Taipei Hot Spring Season invited a delegation of 4 mikoshi (portable shrines) and 520 participants from Matsuyama City, Japan, to recreate the Dōgo Onsen Autumn Men’s Festival — the Tōshinyō (Shrine Collision) ceremony — in Beitou. During the event period, there will also be food, cultural creativity, and charity markets, as well as performances by Ming Hua Yuan Taiwanese Opera and a yukata fashion show. Visitors wearing yukata to soak in the hot springs can enjoy special discounts. Among the offers: buy one entry to the public baths at Shuimei Hot Spring Club and get two free, and at Suto Hot Spring Club, one person goes free when two visit the open-air bath together.

●Huadong Valley National Scenic Area (From now until2015/12/31)

The Huadong Valley National Scenic Area is holding a hot spring essay writing and voting promotion campaign from now until the end of the year (December 31). During this period, visitors who soak in hot springs at any of the 26 licensed hotels or homestays in the Huadong Valley and upload their photos and texts to the campaign’s official website for voting can win prizes. The top two vote-getters will each receive a 28,800 NTD lodging voucher for the Luming Hot Spring Villa; the next five highest vote-getters will each receive a 19,500 NTD VIP lakeside room voucher for the Yuli Shanwan Shuiyue Hot Spring Club in Hualien; other awards include honorable mentions and popularity prizes, with a total of 14 lodging vouchers and 30 Starlight Bathhouse soaking vouchers being given away.

●Maolin National Scenic Area – Mountain Town Floral Language Hot Spring Season(2015/11/14 – 2016/01/24)

During the Maolin National Scenic Area’s Mountain Town Floral Language Hot Spring Season, events such as singing competitions and street performer shows will take place. The Liugui Sightseeing and Leisure Association has also organized an early “Rediscover the Beauty of Baolai” oil painting competition from October 1 to December 4. The first 100 registrants can apply to the association for a 3,000 NTD lodging subsidy upon presenting a local accommodation receipt or invoice. Additionally, Meishan Hot Spring Villa is offering a “buy one night, get one night free” deal. The competition’s champion will receive a prize of 300,000 NTD, while the second-place winner can get 100,000 NTD.
