On the seventh anniversary of the opening of the Kaohsiung MRT, a dazzling light show at the Formosa Boulevard Station’s dome debuted on September 23. The Light Dome has transformed from a static artwork into a dynamic art installation with synchronized light and sound effects, performing at scheduled times daily, attracting both domestic and international visitors. Drawing inspiration from the artistic concept of the glass pyramid at the Louvre in France, the Kaohsiung MRT Corporation installed golden lighting fixtures at the No. 1 and No. 3 glass curtain wall entrances, creating a warm ambiance. These elements connect cohesively with the Light Dome to form a unified artistic project, making Formosa Boulevard Station once again a popular spot for photos and wedding shoots.

Cities are made beautiful by art, and many cities around the world are renowned and illuminated by iconic art landmarks. Beyond being an MRT station, Formosa Boulevard Station is also a major art landmark in Kaohsiung. The Light Dome inside the station, designed by artist Narcissus Quagliata, depicts the story of love and life. The No. 1 to No. 4 entrances outside the station were designed by Japanese architect Shin Takamatsu, who created four large fiberglass gateways inspired by the image of prayer. Their stylish exteriors carry deep meanings of peace.
