In 2016’s 116 public holidays, there are a total of 7 long holiday periods, including New Year’s Day, Lunar New Year, 228 Peace Memorial Day, Tomb-Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day. Tomb-Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival all offer 4 consecutive days off, while Lunar New Year has 9 days off.

According to the “Government Agency Adjustment of Working Days Guidelines” amended by the Executive Yuan, if a public holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday, it will be adjusted, and the preceding Saturday will be a working day. The make-up working days next year are January 30, June 4, and September 10.

The Lunar New Year holiday runs from February 6 to February 14. As New Year’s Eve falls on a Sunday, it will be adjusted to a make-up holiday on February 11 (Thursday), with February 12 (Friday) as a holiday, and a make-up working day on January 30 (Saturday).
