The Umeda Sky Building Garden Observatory, once selected as one of Japan’s “100 Best Sunsets,” is the perfect spot to enjoy Osaka’s dusk and night views. Located on the 40th floor of the Umeda Sky Building in Osaka’s Umeda district, it offers a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the city’s aerial world and take in the urban landscape. True to its dreamlike name, the observatory provides a 360-degree panoramic view of the entire city, giving you a true sense of its vastness.

The New Umeda City, themed around “urban and nature” and “past and future,” features a “Central Natural Forest” with flowing water and forest elements, as well as a floral “Flower Field.” Visitors can also head up to the “Garden Observatory” atop the Sky Building. The Sky Building, consisting of an east and west tower, is an impressive arch-shaped skyscraper reminiscent of an archway. Viewed from the ground plaza, it’s truly spectacular. Take a high-speed elevator to the 35th floor, then transfer to a 140-meter-long domed escalator that goes straight up to the 39th floor, where you’ll find a glass-enclosed observation room. From there, climb the stairs to the top floor to reach the 360-degree Umeda Sky Building Garden Observatory.

Dusk and nighttime are the best times to visit the observatory. At dusk, the setting sun bathes the city in golden hues, adding a touch of gentleness to this bustling metropolis. As night falls, the bright lights bring Osaka back to life, with white, orange, and blue glows romantically wrapping around couples’ evenings.
