Top 10 Most Hospitable Homestays of 2015: Five Key Certification Indicators

The results of the "2015 Top 10 Most Hospitable Homestays" vote, hosted by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, have been announced. A total of 3 categories of homestays were voted on, including family-friendly hospitable homestays, specialty hospitable homestays, hidden-gem hospitable homestays, as well as the Online Popularity Award.

To help certified legal homestays improve service quality and management, the Tourism Bureau has been running the "Hospitable Homestay Taiwan Host" certification program since 2011. It uses the five core spirits of "friendliness, warmth, cleanliness, hygiene, and reassurance" as evaluation criteria, encouraging homestay operators to apply for assessment. This initiative aims to jointly uphold the standards of high-quality homestays in Taiwan.

The "Hospitable Homestay Taiwan Host" certification is valid for three years, after which it must be renewed. Applicants must complete basic guidance and training courses, pass an evaluation by the county government, and be approved by the Hospitable Homestay Selection Committee before being awarded the certification.
