The Taiwan beech on Tai Ping Mountain dons golden autumn hues, attracting visitors with its breathtaking beauty

After October each year, the Taiwan beech in the Tai Ping Mountain National Forest Recreation Area is at its most beautiful time of the year. The colors of the mountains change day by day as the Taiwan beech puts on its autumn attire, with green leaves turning golden yellow — stunning and poetic, attracting large numbers of tourists to come up the mountain to admire the autumn foliage.

The beech trees in the Tai Ping Mountain National Forest Recreation Area begin to turn yellow from mid-October to November each year. By entering via the trail next to Cui Feng Villa and ascending along the approximately 3.85-kilometer-long Taiwan Beech Trail, visitors can enjoy the rare and precious Taiwan beech, a glacial relict plant. The Tai Ping Mountain Forest Recreation Area has the largest original beech forest in Taiwan, covering about 1,100 hectares. In the autumn, the vast, poetic golden landscape is quite dreamy and enchanting.

Meanwhile, the main access route to the Taiwan Beech Trail within the park, the Cui Feng Scenic Road, is subject to congestion every year due to being part of an ecological conservation zone and a mountainous restricted area. To reduce traffic jams, dynamic vehicle quota control for 200 small vehicles will be implemented daily on weekends from now until November 15th at the entrance of the Cui Feng Scenic Road. Once the number of vehicles entering the controlled area reaches 200, apart from shuttle buses and official vehicles, no other vehicles will be allowed to enter the area.
